Hospital Services Manager - Des Moines (DM-HSMgr-FT-1073)

Be a part of an organization dedicated to saving lives. LifeServe Blood Center is seeking candidates with senior-level experience to oversee daily operations of our Hospital Services department. The Hospital Services Manager will be responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of laboratory functions, such as donor testing, reference testing, product management, product manufacturing and product distribution. This senior level position will be responsible for the direct management of a team focused on operational efficiencies, customer service, product testing and distribution.

 

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Monitor collections and inventory to ensure sufficient capacity and effective utilization of resources

  • Manage daily workflow and organizational processes to streamline operations

  • Create, manage and meet department budget while executing identified organizational strategies

  • Drive performance to ensure department metrics, efficiencies and quality metrics are being met

  • Foster a collaborative environment that allows team members to work together to further the mission and vision of the organization

  • Develop, implement and monitor process improvement/quality improvement initiatives

  • Ensure all team members comply with proper training and accreditation requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Biology or related field

  • MT, CLS or MLT preferred

  • Two- to three-years of management experience required

  • Management experience in blood banking industry or laboratory setting preferred

Want to develop a career while helping to save lives? LifeServe Blood Center currently has a Part-Time opening on our Donor Services team to perform routine blood collection from our valuable, voluntary blood donors with our Urbandale Donor Center and at times with our traveling collection team.

Primary Responsibilities for this Position Include: 

  • Perform routine blood collection 
  • Assist with medical history screenings 
  • Maintaining a clean, well-organized collection area 
  • Interacting with volunteer blood donors in positive, upbeat manner

Hours Available:

  • The schedule for this position will be Mondays - Saturdays, working varied shifts between 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required

Medical Technician – Part time – Des Moines, IA (DM-DonorTestTech-PT-1087)

 

Join our team?  LifeServe Blood Center has a part-time opening for a Donor Testing Technician on the team at our state-of-the-art Des Moines testing laboratory.  This position is responsible for performing critical functions to test blood components in order to meet the blood requirements of our hospital patients.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:
* Accepts, verifies, and processes incoming blood
* Performs and interprets various testing procedures on donor and patient blood products, repeating tests where appropriate
* Maintains and monitors required records and files
* Performs quality control, equipment maintenance and calibration as required
* Identifies and resolves potential patient care issues related to transfusion
* Utilizes computer system to obtain necessary data and to record test results
* Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated.

Hours available:
The available shift is variable 8 hour shifts Monday - Saturday 9:00 PM - 10:30 AM.

Education and/or experience:

* Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related scientific field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience
* MT or MLT from American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred

We’re looking for pleasant, upbeat team members who enjoy talking on the telephone. Your primary responsibility will be performing telephone recruitment to schedule blood donation appointments with our generous blood donors.

Hours Available: 

  • The hours schedule for these positions will be:

    DM-DRS-PT-1088 Monday - Saturday with varying schedule between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

    DM-DRS-PT-1089 Monday - Friday 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM and Saturday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

Join our team! LifeServe Blood Center currently has a part-time opening on our medical laboratory team at our Omaha, NE location.  This position will perform critical functions to test blood components and manage inventory in order to meet the needs of our hospital patients.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Utilizes computer system to obtain necessary data and to record test results
  • Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated
  • Mentors and trains other laboratory team members and students as required

Hours available:

  • The available shift is variable week days 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM with an on-call schedule.

Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related scientific field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
  • Meet current CLIA or ABB requirements for testing personnel
  • MT or MLT from American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred

In this position, you will be working in our state-of-the-art laboratory preparing blood donations for hospital patients by manufacturing blood products into the specific blood components to treat the patient’s need.
 
Primary Responsibilities for this Position Include:
 •Performing the separation procedures necessary to manufacture the blood donations received into the blood products necessary for patients in need
•Reviewing documentation that outlines procedures related to manufacturing blood donations and the equipment utilized in this field
•Identifying, troubleshooting and documenting issues that may influence the quality or completion of manufacturing the blood into the specific components (red blood cells, platelets, plasma)

Hours Available: 
The schedule for this position will be Monday - Thursday 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM and Friday 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM.
